BALINALE makes its mark in Hollywood
6th Annual BALINALE 2012
International Film Festival will be held in Galeria 21 Cineplex, Mal Bali
Galeria, Simpang Siur Kuta Roundabout. This film festival comprises of film
screening, workshops and free seminars. 6th Annual BALINALE 2012 have enjoyed
the support of the participation of Oscar®, Emmy®, BAFTA® and Cannes award
winning filmmakers.
BALINALE International Film Festival is in Los Angeles promoting the
annual event.
Represented by co-founders Christine Hakim and Deborah Gabinetti,
meetings were held with major studio executives and
independent filmmakers keen to explore the potential Indonesia has to
offer in locations, story ideas and creative resources, plus
having ongoing dialogues with a number of film institutions regarding
potential partnerships, conducting labs and contributing
programming.
Discussions included; Sony Pictures Entertainment president Gary Martin,
Twentieth Century Fox International Production president
Sanford Panitch, IMAX producers Jill Ferguson and Drew Fellman, producer
and Completion Bond veteran Donna Smith, Warner
Bros Pictures executive VP Mark Scoon, Paramount Pictures executive
director Betsy Megel, Motion Picture Association’s senior
VP Dan Robbins and directors Rob Cohen (Alex Cross) and Oliver Stone
(Savages), both who recently completed filming in
Indonesia.
BALINALE has been actively promoting regional and independent films
during the festival, holding forums with leading global
filmmakers, student workshops, film screenings and featured premieres.
“We are extremely excited by the response received and the recognition
the festival has already garnered in the US and worldwide,”
said Gabinetti.
Now in its sixth year, BALINALE will be held in Bali from Oct. 8-14.
In addition to the one-on-one meetings, the co-founders attended the
Producers Guild of America’s “Produced By Conference”
where there was an opportunity to network with award-winning filmmakers,
emerging and established producers, as well as top
industry decision makers. BALINALE also participated with the Indonesian
in “Shoot in Indonesia” during the Film Locations Trade
Show, which was opened by Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari
Elka Pangestu.
