Bali Rugby Fest (13 – 14 October 2012)
2012 Bali Rugby Fest will be held in Canggu Clube and will showcase over a hundred games showing off the best talent in Indonesian Rugby.
Its now just under 3 weeks away till Indonesia's largest ever rugby tournament. Here's a preview of what's to come.
October 13th and 14th will see 600 players, coaches and supported descend upon the Canggu Club, Bali to take part in the 2012 Xclusive Property Bali Rugby Fest. This years event features 20 Open Men's 10's teams, 6 Open Women's 7's teams and 8 Indonesian Men's 7's teams and will be the largest rugby tournament ever held in Indonesia.

Hot favourites for the Open Men's 10's division is the Country King Brown's from Australia. This team features ex Wallabies, NRL stars and up and coming Aussie talent. It won't be easy for the star studded team, with several sides from Australia, Singapore and Indonesia gunning for the coveted XP Cup. These include Nedlands from Perth, the Bush Turkeyz from the top end of Australia, Wanderers from Singapore and the French expat outfit, Gaulois, also from Singapore. Flying the flag for Indonesia will be the boys from the Big Durian, the Jakarta Komodos, and the home team and 2 time defending Plate Champions, the Bali Chillis.

The Women's competition will be contested between 3 teams from Singapore and 1 side each from Taiwan, Malaysia and Australia respectively. Last year saw the Bush Turkeyz ladies completely dominate the opposition but Turkeyz supremo, Drew Weaver, has indicated that this years side is missing a few of the Australian and Kiwi test players that made up the bulk of the 2011 side. Still, they will go into the weekend as the team to beat, followed closely by Royal Selangor Club from Malaysia and Singapore sides, Bucks and Bedok Skyllas.

For the third successive year, the Xclusive Property Bali Rugby Fest will also host the PT Intraco Penta Tbk Indonesian National Men's 7's Championships. 8 sides will vie for the National 7s crown with 2 time and current national champions, Banteng from Jakarta, the top seed. Teams from Papua, Sumbawa/ Lombok, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Helmahera and of course, Bali have been training hard and will be looking to topple the boys from the big smoke. Also up for grabs is selection in Indonesia's national 7's team, the Harimau, which will compete in the HSBC Asian 7's event in Singapore in November.

This years tournament will also mark the 10th anniversary of the 2002 nightclub bombings, where 27 players and supporters from the 2002 tournament were amongst the 202 who perished in the attacks. There will be a memorial service being held at the memorial plaque at Sanur, site of the 2002 Bali International 10's, the predecessor of the Bali Rugby Fest. The service will start at 10am and all are welcome. Following the service, the Australian Rugby Union, in association with the Bush Turkeyz, PRUI (Indonesian Rugby Union) and the Bali Sports Foundation, will hold a coaching clinic at the Canggu Club from 1pm.

Entry to the 2012 Xclusive Property Bali Rugby Fest is free and play starts from 8am on both days.
